What a great opportunity to work with the kids at the 2018 Boxing Camp at Arciniega Boxing Outreach right here in Lockhart, TX. They spent 2 weeks not only improving their physical strength and stamina but at the same time they were learning life lessons such as treating others with respect, obeying parents, and doing their best even when it’s tough.
The purpose of the gym, according to their website, is to make a positive difference in the community by teaching the skill and discipline of boxing as well as highly emphasizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The goal is twofold; first we want to make champions, and secondly but in my opinion more importantly, we want to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to hopefully impact the student and the community in a positive way.”
Boxing is a sport that can relate closely to the tangible picture of life and its challenges as both require dedication and discipline to go through and be successful.
At the end of camp, each child was given their photo for free as a token and reminder of what they accomplished during the hot and sweaty past two weeks.
Coach Pete plans on doing a back to school camp before school starts again so if you are in the Lockhart area keep an eye out for an announcement on the Arciniega Boxing Outreach Facebook page.
